You win some and you lose some. “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Karla Mosley (Maya Avant Forrester) is celebrating the GLAAD Media Awards nomination, and de facto win, for the soap’s groundbreaking storyline of a transgender female. Sadly, the actress didn’t receive a pre-nomination for her role in the story as part of the “The 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” voting process.
In a tweet, Mosley congratulated the team at “B&B” for their GLAAD nomination and all the pre-nominations it did receive. “I couldn’t be more proud!!!!!!” she said.

Talking about the lack of a pre-nomination for herself, Mosley shares, “I am so humbled – to tears, really – by the beautiful outpouring of love from fans (& even and some friendly foes) today. #HeartFull.”
The socially aware storyline, for which Mosley was its center, presented viewers with the revelation that the scheming Maya was actually born male and previously went by the name Myron. The storyline, which was the first for a major character on a daytime drama series, was a groundbreaking story that sent shockwaves throughout the daytime industry for how the soap was able to maintain such a bombshell underwraps and still tell a solid story with all the intended beats by its writers.
Maya went on to marry the man of her dreams, Rick Forrester (Jacob Young). The two are currently expecting their first child via Maya’s sister, Nicole (Reign Edwards), who has agreed to carry the baby for them.
