On the Tuesday, December 16 edition of NBCUniversal’s syndicated daytime talker, “The Steve Harvey Show,” former “Days of our Lives” actress Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady) sits down with Steve Harvey to talk about her two-decade long run on “DAYS,” her hosting duties on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” and her novel, “Scared Scriptless.” In your first look clip, Sweeney reveals that it was hard to leave the daytime soap she called home since she was a teenager and that she’s kept in touch with her former colleagues via social media. Sweeney also revealed that she’s been back to direct several episodes of the daytime drama series since completing filming last May as Sami.

For 12 seasons Sweeney has hosted NBC’s popular weight loss reality series “The Biggest Loser,” which in addition to the contestants taking part in the competition, has aided its viewers in taking on the challenge of losing weight. When asked by Harvey what question(s) is asked most by people about weight loss and what advice she provides to them, Sweeney said, “A lot of people want to share their story. The best part of my job is meeting the fans who have success stories. People pull up their phones and they’ll show me unbelievable changes that they have made because they are fans of the show and it motivated them. It’s such a wonderful feeling to be a part of, but the advice I get asked all the time is, ‘How do you do it? Give me some tips! Tell me your secret…’ What I try to say is there’s not one secret, there’s not one thing that magically makes it all better. It’s everyday, you just have to make the right choices, and in the holiday’s, it’s really hard. Really hard. You go to parties and there’s buffets and there’s dessert, baskets everywhere, and it’s really hard not to be tempted.”

While it’s hard trying not to be tempted by the delicious desserts, it’s also hard dealing with being distant from family, especially a family you saw so consistently as Sweeney did portraying Sami Brady on “Days of our Lives” for more than 20 years. “It was really hard to to leave. [Deidre Hall] played my mom on the show for 22 years. It was really hard not to be there everyday. It’s hard not to see those people… the crew that you’re so close to. I still check in with them on Facebook and stuff, but I miss them. I’ve been back to direct a few times so that was really fun, but it’s hard, it’s hard to be away from them,” said Sweeney to Harvey about missing her former “DAYS” colleagues.

In addition to talk of “The Biggest Loser” and “DAYS,” look for Sweeney to also discuss her holiday traditions at home, including her children’s love for “Elf on the Shelf,” as well as tips for keeping your diet on track for the upcoming holiday season. Following Sweeney’s chat with Harvey about her novel, “Scared Scriptless,” it’s revealed that she brought copies of her book for the entire studio audience.
