CBS Daytime’s talk show, “The Talk,” is on a roll: The daytime show beat popular ABC talker “The View” in ratings for the first time ever last month, and they’ve just done it again!
According to Nielsen live plus same day ratings, “The Talk” — which includes co-hosts Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood, Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen — topped “The View” in key demographics for the week ending on Friday, August 1.
“The Talk” (2.49m) averaged 1.1/07 in women 25-54 (vs. 1.0/07 for “The View”), up +10% from last week and 0.8/05 in women 18-49 (vs. 0.7/05 for “The View”), up +14% from the prior week.
Congrats to The Talk!
The Talk is a great show and all these ladies bring an afternoon smile. Congratulations!
The Talk is cheap!
Congrats to The Talk.
These CBS press releases are getting dumber by the week. How about some informative headline, “Soap Opera Network”???
GENERAL HOSPITAL BEATS THE TALK – LIKE ALWAYS
And hey, they’re even in the same time slot!!!
Advertisers would love to have a second soap in that time slot that draws the ratings GH is drawing, especially in the young key demos.
That soap could and certainly would be AS THE WORLD TURNS if CBS had made the same smart changes that were made with GH. ATWT had better ratings in the key demos even during its weakest periods!
Do people here – and elsewhere – talk about GH in relative terms to Y&R, B&B or “Days”, even though GH is not in competition with any of those? “The Talk”, “The Chew” and “The View” are the only daytime network talk shows (one may also lump the Hoda/Kathie Lee hour of “Today” in with them). Soaps and talk shows appeal to different audiences, and the advertisers know this.
To say that CBS should have “made the same smart changes that were made with GH” is just silly. For starters, CBS did not own “As the World Turns”, whereas ABC actually owns GH and can dictate decisions such as hiring/firing actors, writers and producers. The most CBS could do with ATWT (or with Y&R/B&B) is to “strongly suggest”. I find it odd that ABC is now being held up as a standard of how to treat a soap opera, just a few years after it was vilified for canceling “All My Children” and “One Life to Live”.
The Talk is crap. And the ratings are just as crappy!
And The Spew is CRAPPIER. Go CBS.
