It was one year ago this month when word broke that actress Camryn Grimes would be returning to CBS' "The Young and the Restless" after previously portraying the beloved Cassie Newman on the soap from 1997-2005, when the character was killed off following a horrific car accident, and on a less frequent basis as the ghost of Cassie from that point through and up to 2010.

It was one year ago this month when word broke that actress Camryn Grimes would be returning to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” after previously portraying the beloved Cassie Newman on the soap from 1997-2005, when the character was killed off following a horrific car accident, and on a less frequent basis as the ghost of Cassie from that point through and up to 2010.

In the year since her return to the canvas viewers, and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) in particular, believed that Cassie had returned in some form only for it to recently be revealed that her look-alike is actually Mariah, Tyler Michaelson’s (Redaric Williams) ex-fiancée. Just a few short weeks since the reveal comes word that Grimes has been upped to contract status with the soap.

“You spoke, they listened. Officially under contract for #YR!!! @YRInsider @YRJimmyF @CBSDaytime,” the actress tweeted earlier this evening.

Grimes’ other television work includes appearances in episodes of CBS’ “NCIS: Los Angeles” and ABC Family’s “Make It or Break It.” In 2012, the actress appeared in the Channing Tatum blockbuster film “Magic Mike,” about male strippers in Florida.
