Cancel your evening plans and grab some popcorn, because “Soap Life,” a documentary chronicling the rise and fall of the American soap opera, was released today!

Available on a variety of platforms, including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, Playstation and Vudu, the film explores the histories of soaps like “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” and “Guiding Light,” attempting to find out why — despite millions of fans and loyal viewers — so many iconic shows have disappeared from the American television landscape.

The informative documentary features interviews with fans, writers, directors and producers, as well as actors like Bobbie Eakes (Krystal Carey, “AMC;” Macy Alexander, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Rick Hearst (Whip Jones, “B&B;” Ric Lansing, “General Hospital”) and Derk Cheetwood (Max Giambetti, “GH”). There’s also an interview with “AMC” and “OLTL” creator Agnes Nixon!
