There’s so much excitement happening over at “General Hospital,” it’s tough to keep up! And when Soap Opera Network recently spoke with actress Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), she teased that the strong, layered storylines most fans have been enjoying as of late will continue to pack a punch throughout 2014. But just what will this year have in store for the lovely lady? Read on to find out!

“There’s a real rhythm to the show now, and I think people are responding to it, and they are feeling very comfortable knowing that they’re in good hands,” the London native says of the momentum “GH” seems to have these days. “I think it was a sink or swim kind of mentality, and everybody just knuckled under and we pushed forward. We have a great leader with [executive producer] Frank Valentini, and a fantastic headwriter, Ron [Carlivati], and it all just pulled together. Maybe in the beginning it was bumpy, and we were all trying to find our feet, but they’ve got us into this wonderful kind of show rhythm. We keep surprising the fans, and it’s tune-in-TV.”

Speaking of surprises, Hughes teases that there’s a huge storyline coming up for Anna that’s going to be full of dark twists and turns. “I’m going to be doing a lot of police work, which is great. I love it, and I love working with Dominic [Zamprogna, Dante],” she says. “And I think there’s this huge mob war that is brewing, and somebody that I care very deeply about is involved in it. I think Anna will find out, so there’s going to be a showdown. I don’t know specifically what’s going to happen with the mob, but there are rumblings!”

As if that turmoil isn’t enough for the cop, she’ll have to face even more personal troubles with the exits of both Robert (Tristan Rogers), who last airs on Thursday, January 30, and her onscreen daughter, Robin (Kimberly McCullough), who’ll be leaving the canvas later this spring. “It was so sad [having to say goodbye to Tristan],” the actress says with a disappointed frown. “And Kimberly is leaving soon, which is going to be hard. I’m really not looking forward to that!”
