WHAT DO YOU THINK?
  • SoapFansTogether

Congrats! The big upward trend for ALL soaps is holding steady.

The ratings for this week (1st week of September) are the best since 2008 !

If you sum up the household ratings of the four top soaps, season average is the best since 2007-08 !

    Above all:

NO other daytime genre is drawing such good numbers in the women 18-49 key demographic that advertisers actually pay for!

  • Bexx

Finally a turn around for DOOL, I hope they can keep it up. Whoa B&B is doing fantastic these days, congrats to them and the fans.

    • Philip

I guess if you aren’t praising GH or maybe Y&R around here then people vote your posts down. That was a positive soap opera post and 3 people voted it negative. Talk about being childish.

      • Rebecca W

Or maybe it’s that some of us can’t stand the Ejami/Dannifer horrorshow that is Days? Not everything is about YR & GH.

  • Oh my

    Actually,
VERY surprised that Y&R went down this week as this was the week of Katherine’s funeral/memorial.

    • Derrick

      I’m stunned too!!!!

    • Alex

Actually, Y&R didn’t go down, but remained stable at a much higher level than last year (more than 300,000 viewers gained).

In the key demographic (women 18-49) they got an additional boost in comparison to the previous week and in households they hit a 3.6 on Tuesday.

All in all very good numbers for this time of the year.

  • Derrick

You honestly telling me that Katherine’s funeral both Tuesday and Wednesday wasn’t higher. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???????????? Her funeral was beautiful!

  • Jeff

    Awesome go GH

    • Noah Snyder

“With only a couple weeks remaining in the 2012/13 season, General Hospital is pacing for its strongest season in 5 years in Total Viewers (2.97 million), generating the biggest year-to-year increases of any broadcast daytime drama (+14% – vs. 2.61 million), and is also up the most season to season in Women 18-34 (+36% – 253,000 vs. 186,000) and Women 18-49 (+7% – 770,000 vs. 719,000).”

Another reason to ignore “Bexx”, Philip and how these anti-soaps people call themselves. For them, it’s not about one soap being their favorite, they just want to distort facts and numbers and put a negative spin on the soap genre as a whole!

No matter which soap is your favorite one, ABC and CBS should want to have more daytime programs with a performance like this:

  • PatF

Good numbers all around. Was kind of surprised as well by YR since it was Kay’s memorial, but they are still up quite a bit over LY and all the demos are good.
All soaps in good shape this week.

  • LW

On Y&R – Notice how the second day of Kay’s memorial went down from the first? If they had stayed on point instead of careening into the Paul-Christine wedding (where there was scant build-up and little to no emotional investment) they probably would have maintained the 3.6. We didn’t even get a decent scene between Brock & Jill. He was treated like and underfive. And I’d rather have seen more flashbacks, and not the same old ones that have been available on youtube for years.
