Soap star and theatre regular, Robert Newman, addressed fan inquiries on Facebook earlier today over his possible involvement in either “All My Children” or “One Life to Live,” which are essentially filming in his backyard of Stamford, CT. The inquiries were from fans of the cancelled Proctor & Gamble produced soap “Guiding Light,” which Newman starred off and on for nearly 30 years as Joshua Lewis.

“I do have some interest, but my guess is that, at least at first, they will only be tapping into the incredible talent that have put in their time already on both shows,” Newman said. He added, “Wouldn’t be much of a reunion if you recast any characters or added new ones. But down the road, who knows? They both are stocked with several actors I have great respect for and would love working with. We’ll see.”

The busy actor flew to Los Angeles in late February to begin filming a new season of “Venice: The Series,” an online soap created by Crystal Chappell (“Days of our Lives,” “Guiding Light” and “One Life to Live”) and Kimmy Turrisi. Last fall Newman was featured alongside former “GL” co-star Kim Zimmer (ex-Reva Shayne) and numerous other daytime stars in the Investigation Discovery series “Days of our Knives.”

Newman’s Full Facebook Message:

Hi all,

A lot of you have asked about my interest in working on the returning soaps AMC and OLTL. Oddly, they are both being shot in the town in which I live, Stamford, CT, so the commute would be great. I do have some interest, but my guess is that, at least at first, they will only be tapping into the incredible talent that have put in their time already on both shows. Wouldn’t be much of a reunion if you recast any characters or added new ones. But down the road, who knows? They both are stocked with several actors I have great respect for and would love working with. We’ll see. In the meantime, I continue to pursue my beloved theater work. I’ll keep you posted on upcoming shows. -R

Newman also added this message on his Facebook page:

Oh…and who knows? If these two shows in their new format, (Hulu), prove to be successful, maybe there is even a possibility of GL coming back! Wouldn’t that be interesting??
