Frank and Ron are doing a terrific job keeping GH’s ratings down. Please let them stay forever. [/sarcasm]
It’s not Frank and Ron who are keeping the ratings down; it is the 27,000 viewers who watched last week but didn’t watch this week, and the 320,000 viewers who watched last year but aren’t watching this year. Frank and Ron can only do so much; you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t force him to take a drink. If fans want the ratings to go up, if they want the show to stay on, then they should be diligent about watching the show, even if they may not be happy with some current story lines. it’s as simple as that.
I want GH to live forever. But I won’t give them my viewership if I think things are changing for the worse, and IMO they are.
Those 320,000 viewers are still watching but they are not watching GH at 3pm in the afternoon. They are watching it on DVR SOAPNET or online The sad thing is that once those viewers quit watching the show when it is originally broadcast at 3pm, they are no longer being counted by Nielsen which gives the unaware person the impression that those viewers are no longer watching when they are definitely still watching along with a couple million more viewers. This is the reason why the other soaps were cancelled. The soap opera ratings have always been too steady to decline like they have over the last five years since DVR became prevalent. Its a shame as soaps are still as popular as ever but due to Nielsens outdated ratings collection system they will no doubt disappear unless changes are made
Funny thing, they ARE doing a fantastic job. They have lost most viewers prior to their writing and producing.
I really miss OLTL but I am so glad GH is safe for now . . . need my soaps to excape daily ! Been a soap fan all my life!
