IT HAPPENED TODAY…

David says he could be back in power soon and he’d like Griffin to reconsider re-joining the staff as Chief of Cardiac Surgery. Griffin shares the good news with Kendall, no jail time, just community service for 6 months and he has to pay restitution for the drugs he stole. Excited, she throws her arms around him. Kendall’s excited for him and says she is counting on him to help her with the Miranda Center project. She also gives Griffin an advance so he can use it towards paying his restitution. Kendall catches herself and pulls back when Griffin comes close to acting on his feelings for her.

Bianca has admitted to Kendall that she’s falling in love with Marissa but Marissa has no idea of her feelings. Kendall’s worried that her sister might be closing herself off from something that could make her happy. Bianca pulls out a music box and contemplates giving it to Marissa. Krystal tells Bianca that she doesn’t blame her for the kidnapping and thinks she’s been an inspiration to Marissa. Marissa wants Scott to move back in so he can be with family. While JR thinks that having Scott around their family will only remind him of Madison and the baby she lost, he agrees to call a contractor to help finish the gatehouse. Out of earshot, JR offers the contractor double the money to make sure the gatehouse never gets finished. Marissa runs into Bianca at Krystal’s and asks her to join her, JR & AJ. Marissa thinks Bianca has been uncomfortable around her after what happened with Ricky. Bianca doesn’t want to avoid Marissa and starts to reach for the music box. JR tells Krystal that from here on out he is going to prove he’s the right man for her daughter.

Jackson’s surprised “Erica” is so accommodating when she signs autographs and takes pictures with her fans. Jane takes it a step further and steps up on a chair to announce that everyone’s meal is on her leaving Jackson charmed. Jack kisses “Erica” and admits he misses making love to her. Erica/Jane says that she wants their first time since being kidnapped to be like it’s their first time ever. Her demeanor changes though when he starts talking about Kendall and Bianca. Jane snaps at him, and later when she reaches for a drink at the bar, Jackson becomes alarmed. David approaches Jane on the progress she’s making and says she must work faster. Liza asks David what he’s up too.

OLTL First Look: LaChanze Comes to 'Life' in New Role

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — When Broadway star and Tony Award winning actress LaChanze joins the cast of “One Life to Live” later this month in the recurring role of Yvette, she won’t be alone. Joined by Barret Helms (who will play Yvette’s son Baz), the daytime newcomer will also share a surprising connection to several Llanview residents, the identities of which may surprise you.

Since news of LaChanze joining “One Life” first broke nearly a month ago, fans have speculated that her character would be related to James’ (Nic Robuck) old flame Deanna Forbes (Nafessa Williams), based in part due to the show’s strange obsession with a desire to connect every African-American character on the canvas to one another. And while, that may eventually turn out to be true, in a shocking twist, it will soon be revealed that it is actually another Llanview newcomer that Yvette has a history with.

The actress makes her “OLTL” debut on Monday, June 20, when Yvette receives a visit from her estranged husband Tomas (Ted King), which is overheard by Blair (Kassie DePaiva) who ignores Calmar’s (Matthew Conlon) warnings that she stop following Tomas and go home.  Meanwhile Starr (Kristen Alderson) has an encounter with a stranger named Baz (Barret Helms). And, later, Yvette turns Tomas’ world upside down when she makes a shocking confession.

                  ABC

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — After fifteen years of working in various positions on the “One Life to Live” writing staff, including serving as the show’s head scribe for the last three years, ABC has announced that Ron Carlivati will be joining “General Hospital” as a script writer. The move will fulfill the remainder of the three-year contract Carlivati signed with the network last September. A similar two-year deal was hammered out at the time with “One Life” Executive Producer Frank Valentini.

Despite the timing of the news, “OLTL” fans breath a sigh of relief, however, since Carlivati is not expected to begin his new duties until after the show wraps production sometime in mid-November. “One Life to Live” will air its final episode on January 20, 2012.

Carlivati echoed the sentiment in a press release, saying that “I remain fully committed to Frank Valentini and ‘One Life to Live’ as the show’s Headwriter until the series concludes in January of 2012.  It has been my distinct honor to write for Agnes Nixon’s groundbreaking soap opera for the past fifteen years, and it will be with a heavy heart that I, along with my incredibly talented team, pen its finale.  At that time, I am happy to announce that I will then be joining the writing team of ‘General Hospital,’ and am thrilled to be working once again with Executive Producer Jill Phelps as well as new Headwriter Garin Wolf.”

Wolf was just named “GH” headwriter last month by Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group, upon the firing of the show’s former head scribe Robert Guza, Jr.

The news of Carlivati’s move to the L.A.-based “Hospital,” was broken Thursday by “One Life’s” soon-to-be-departing leading lady Robin Strasser, who tweeted that ” JUST TOLD but NOT told it wuz SECRET: Ron CARLIVATI to #GH as script writer-hopes 2 b co-head writer? Yo,I’m taking heat for leaving early?” Strasser, as we previously reported, is leaving “OLTL” this summer to have back surgery. Her final tape date is Friday, July 1.

Carlivati, along with his writing staff, won a Daytime Emmy in 2008 for their work on “One Life to Live.” He began his daytime career on the soap as a Writer’s Assistant from 1996-1998, before being promoted the the position of Script Writer. In 2001 he was again promoted, this time to the job of Breakdown Writer. In May 2007, he was appointed Co-Head Writer (along with Dena Higley). In September of that year, he was named the show’s sole Head Writer following the network’s dismissal of Higley, where he has continued to serve (minus a brief hiatus during the 2008 Writer’s Strike) in the same capacity.

Click here to read an interview Soap Opera Network did with Carlivati in March of this year, one month before ABC announced the cancellation of “One Life to Live” and sister soap “All My Children.”

                  Mitchell Haaseth/NBC

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Francisco San Martin is the next actor out at NBC’s “Days of our Lives” as another week comes to a close where blood is spilled at the fledgling daytime drama series. The actor tweeted the news to fans before the show could make it official.

“I wanted you guys to hear it from me first; ‘Days of our Lives’ has decided to bring back some of the old characters and I’ll be one of the casualties,” said San Martin. “I couldn’t be more honored to have been a part of an amazing team, both cast and crew who are both incredibly diligent and talented. Thanx for the support u guys! lol You guys are in great hands, hopefully the changes ‘DOOL’ is making will get u guys even more into the show!”

San Martin’s firing comes hours after reports that Mark Hapka would be returning to the show presumably for his character Nathan Horton to reconnect with Molly Burnett‘s Melanie Layton.

No last airdate has been set. A “Days of our Lives” representative was unavailable for comment.
