ABC Daytime Sets Fourth of July Schedule

( — On July 4th, 2011, the United State of America will celebrate the 235th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in which the United States officially declared its independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Like on Memorial Day, to deflect bad ratings due to the thousands of people out enjoying the federal holiday, ABC Daytime has chosen to air encore presentations. This is despite the fact “All My Children” is going off the air on ABC in September, and “One Life to Live” is going off the air on ABC in January 2012. Fittingly, ABC Daytime will use this particular day of celebration better known as “Independence Day” to reflect back on some major ABC Daytime characters declaring themselves free from certain constraints.

The following is a list of the encore presentations chosen to air for “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital” on Monday, July 4, 2011:

    • All My Childrenwill air an episode originally aired on November 11 2010. Passion builds between Ryan and Greenlee while on the run. Ryan and Greenlee admit their love for each other and share a passionate kiss. Ryan is able to con a guard into believing he is with the FBI, searching for a fugitive, Nick Pearson. In an effort to get over Ryan, Madison accepts a lunch date with Logan. Zach and Kendall deny knowing where Greenlee and Ryan are when Jesse questions them. Zach and Kendall go down memory lane and remember moments in the history of their relationship. Zach’s lawyer informs him that the deal is done and he’s out of the casino situation. Jesse walks in on Natalia and Brot arguing and they admit to him they’ve been on a few dates but agree it won’t be a problem when Jesse says he’ll have to transfer one of them. Natalia surprises Brot when she kisses him.

    • One Life to Livewill air an episode that originally aired on April 27, 2011. This special episode celebrated Erika Slezak’s 40th Anniversary on the soap. Joey and Natalie want to know if Viki is Niki as the fight for Ryder’s custody is decided. Ford and Tess don’t want Niki revealed. Niki takes the stand and says she’s giving up the fight for custody. Meanwhile, inside Viki’s mind, the struggle for dominance plays out between Jean and Viki. Viki wants Jean to release her but Jean tells her she’s only as strong as Viki herself. At one point Jean takes over in the courtroom and seems to advocate for Viki to take custody, but her effort fails. Viki passes out, overwhelmed and exhausted. Natalie and Joey panic and an ambulance is called. They summon Viki back, reminding her of her strength and importance. Jean convinces Niki that if Viki dies, so do they. Even Niki urges Viki not to give up without a fight. Ultimately Viki wakes up and she is Viki.

    • General Hospitalwill air an episode that originally aired on April 28 2011. The Spencers, Nikolas, Sonny, Carly and Steve encircle Luke in a surprise intervention for his alcohol addiction. Through individual letters, flashbacks and loving pleas, they ask Luke to choose rehab or else live with the consequence of losing everyone in his life. Luke walks away from his friends and family, choosing the bottle.

Inside The Writers Room: June Edition

( — On May 19, 2011, Dena Higley was fired as head writer of “Days of our Lives” and was replaced by Darrell Ray Thomas, Jr. and Marlene McPherson.   So in June’s edition of “Inside The Writers Room,” I have a few items to report.

Jeanne Marie Ford moves from the breakdown writer to script editor replacing Fran Myers.   Breakdown writer Lisa Seidman was also let go from the show.  So taking Ford and Seidman’s spot on the breakdown writing team are Nancy Williams Watt and Elizabeth Snyder.  Lastly, David A. Levinson joins as a script writer.

Note: These changes were made before Gary Tomlin’s firing.

In other news, Ron Carlivati will be joining “General Hospital” as a script writer once he’s finished writing the end of “One Life To Live.”  And at “All My Children,” the final scripts will be written in mid-July.

Tam Fuels Speculation That He and Underwood May Be Returning to 'OLTL'

( — Jason Tam reveals on Twitter that both he and Brittany Underwood may be returning to “One Life to Live” as former lovebirds Markko Rivera and Langston Wilde before the show is scheduled to wrap production in November.

Tam was asked by a fan if there “Is any chance that Markko and Langston will make a return to Llanview BEFORE ‘OLTL’ ends?!?,” to which the actor responded simply “You bet!” The response was short, but enough to give fans of both actors reason to hope that they may step foot in Llanview at least once more before the fictional soap town fades into daytime history. Underwood, meanwhile, has remained silent on the possible return to “One Life” on her Twitter page.

Brittany Underwood originated the role of Langston in in 2006. She exited the role on April 12 of this year after the show chose not to renew her contract. Tam joined the cast in the role of Markko in 2007, and left the show in November 2010 following a brief hiatus. He returned for two episodes in April to usher Underwood off the show.

Both characters are currently said to be in Los Angeles writing and directing the screenplay for David Vickers Buchanan’s biopic “Vicker Man.”

                  ‘OLTL’ June Minor Casting Notes

                  'OLTL' June Minor Casting Notes

( — Some Llanview casting odd and ends and comings and goings for the month of June.

With David Fumero (Cristian Vega) on his way out of Llanview, rumors are swirling that his former onscreen co-star and reel life brother Kamar de los Reyes (Antonio Vega) and niece Jamie Vega (Saoirse Scott) may return for a brief visit. The speculation was fueled in part due to this picture of the 10-year-old Scott posing “on the set of ‘OLTL’” with Shenell Edmonds (Destiny). However, according to Scott’s official website, she attended a couple of fan events last fall with Edmonds and several of her former “One Life” co-stars (and apparently also visited with some of them at the studio), which might help explain the photo, especially since both Scott and Edmonds are wearing coats in the image. Furthermore, de los Reyes has remained silent on the issue on his Twitter page.

Speaking of Edmonds, with Destiny possibly pregnant with Matthew’s (Eddie Alderson) baby, there is some talk her father (whom she grew up thinking was actually her big brother) Greg Evans (Terrell Tilford) returning to Llanview. Tilford noted in a recent interview that “I’d love to make a final appearance before it goes off, especially considering some of the stuff coming up story-wise with my little sister and all that. We’re talking about making it happen, so we’ll see.”

Look for Nigel (Peter Bartlett), armed with reinforcements, to give the Buchanan Mansion’s new occupants some very unexpected news on Tuesday, June 28. Even from his hospital bed, Clint (Jerry verDorn) remains as shrewd as ever.

Kearran Giovanni is back as Dr. Vivian Wright. Sean Ringgold (Shaun) posted a pic of the two of them, along with Shenell Edmonds (Destiny) getting ready to tape some scenes last Friday.

Flint Beverage exits the role of Agent Kent, the man who was guarding the “Man with the Scar” (Roger Howarth) at the top secret facility, on Monday, June 20, when the man with Todd’s old face turns the tables on him at La Boulaie. Click here to the read the original audition script for the role, which featured the scene that will be playing out on screen tomorrow.

Although the name of the actress cast in the recurring role of Ionia, who plays Dorian Lord (Robin Strasser) in David Vickers Buchanan’s (Tuc Watkins) autopic “Vicker Man” remains unknown, look for the character to first appear later this month. After making a deal with a vengeful Echo (Kim Zimmer), the aspiring actress tries to stir up some trouble for the newlyweds.

It looks as if Susan Haskell‘s final appearance on the show as Marty was on June 6. In the same episode, Esau Pritchett played Agent Wayne, the man on the plane that escorted the unseen Patrick Thornhart back to Llanview to reunite with his lady love.

When David Aaron Baker debuts as the father of Brad (Jack’s sidekick) on Friday, June 24, he will be given a last name — Konzinski.

Majorie Johnson played the nearsighted nun Sister Bridget last week.

Sean J. Cullen has returned as Jessica’s therapist Dr. Edward Levin.

Rob Yang continues his recurring role of Dr. Degroff.

                  In other news…

Kassie DePaiva commented on her Facebook page on June 13 that “I had my first scenes with Roger today and it was awesome. Can’t wait for y’all to see it!”

Kristen Alderson has been busy tweeting a lot of “OLTL” related stuff in the last week. Check out her posts on a variety of topics (because we just know you’re interested, haha) including dressing room pictures with her new co-star Barret Helms (Baz), two minor injuries she suffered recently, the exact shade of new nail polish, and what she is wearing to the Daytime Emmy Awards. A few  of her more interesting tweets include this picture of her and Andrew Trischitta (Jack) in hair and makeup at the studios, her comment stating that Lenny Platt (Nate) “says it best, days with big group scenes are more like a party than work,” and that she just finished a very long work week at “OLTL” and that she taped some “intense scenes.”

Nick Choksi (Vimal) posted a few photos of him and Tuc Watkins (David) on his Facebook page.

Does “One Life” have game? Barret Helms (Baz) recently tweeted that “I don’t think I’m a good enough actor to play basketball.”

It looks like the Manning’s are having a special event coming up. Check out these pictures of Starr (Kristen Alderson), Andrew Trischitta (Jack), and Téa (Florencia Lozano) in their Sunday best.

“OLTL” Music Director Paul S. Glass reveals that he “Posted Forsaken (Todd’s Song) that I did with Michal for Todd’s execution story in 2006 on Soundcloud. Check it out.”

And Julia Jovone, who is a make-up artist on the show, tweeted recently that she’s had some long days on the set recently.
