Thorsten Kaye to Report Back to 'All My Children' this Summer

( — As previously reported, Thorsten Kaye and “All My Children” had started talks to negotiate a return coinciding with the resolution of the soap on ABC. Through his Official Web Site Messageboard, on Monday May 9, Kaye revealed that he will be bringing back Zach Slater, in the flesh, to Pine Valley this summer to tape “a good number of shows.” The Emmy-nominated actor relates that although the official papers remain to be signed, a deal has been reached.

Kaye first aired in the role of casino owner Zach Slater on May 20, 2004. The actor became one-half of one of “AMC’s” most popular pairings of the last decade paired opposite Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) first born Kendall Hart (Alicia Minshew). Kaye last aired on contract on December 29, 2009. The four-time Daytime Emmy nominee, twice for his role on “AMC,” has returned for several short stints on the soap since that departure. Before joining “AMC, Kaye played Patrick Thornhart on “One Life to Live” from October 1995 – September 1997 and Ian Thornhart on “Port Charles” from May 2000 until its last episode in October 2003.

The 45-year old actor who reportedly declined “OLTL’s” request to return to usher off former onscreen love Marty Saybrooke, played by Kaye’s real-life partner (who was recently let go from “OLTL”) Susan Haskell, will begin taping at “AMC” in late June according to his web site. Barring the show then plugging new scenes into already taped episodes, which could move up the return date, this should bring Kaye back on-screen by August.

'All My Children' Set to Whistle Dixie One More Time; First Air-Date Announced

( — On Friday, April 29, Cady McClain reported on her official Twitter feed that her discussions to return to “All My Children” had reached their conclusion – and that she would be returning to the soap she started her daytime career on. On Tuesday, May 10, McClain will return to the “AMC” set in California to begin taping what will likely be her last run on the ABC soap that is expected to cease production for good in August.

McClain, a two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner, debuted as the naive Dixie Cooney on “AMC” in October 1988. Alongside the talented Michael E. Knight, McClain would go on to leave her mark on the soap by becoming one-half of arguably “AMC’s” biggest super-couple, Tad & Dixie. Needing a break, McClain exited the show by the spring of 1996. Rested, she returned in July 1998 and remained on the show until Dixie met an untimely death in February 2002. The actress moved on to a successful run as Rosanna Cabot on CBS’ “As the World Turns” from April 2002 to July 2005. McClain would once again be lured back to Pine Valley and appeared as the back from the dead Tad Martin ex from December 2005 until January 2007. McClain was let go this time and Dixie was killed off for a second time. Since then McClain has returned for multiple short-term stints to both “ATWT,” including a short stint in correlation with “ATWT’s” final episodes in the fall of 2010, and “AMC.” The 41-year old actress was last seen on “AMC” on April 20, 2010. In the episode celebrating the life and times of Palmer Cortlandt, played by the great James Mitchell, Dixie welcomed her “Uncle Palmer” to heaven.

At this time “AMC” has not released McClain’s return date. The soap currently runs approximately four to five weeks between production and actual airing. Barring the show plugging new tapings into already taped episodes, which could move up the return date, McClain should be back on our screens by mid-June. In what form McClain will return remains a mystery. McClain would only drop this hint to fans, “think you will be happy with this story. Can’t say anything but that it’s a classic!”

UPDATE (5/10): This afternoon, on Twitter, McClain announced that her first air-date is Tuesday, May 17. With only seven days separating her first tape-date from her first air-date (and “AMC” currently taping material into June), all signs point to Dixie returning in the flesh. Working recently taped scenes into earlier taped episodes has usually been a precursor to signal the unexpected return from the dead of a favorite character. On this particular episode (May 17), look for both Tad and his current wife Cara (Lindsay Hartley) to coincidentally reflect on their great loves.

Erika Slezak Discusses 'One Life's' Cancellation & 40 Years in Llanview

( — In her first fan club newsletter following ABC’s cancellation of “One Life to Live,” Erika Slezak reflects on her 40 years on the show and previews what may lie ahead for both her and Viki.

Just hours after ABC announced they were pulling the plug on “OLTL” as of January 2012, Slezak released a statement to her fans, describing her sorrow that the soap will be coming to an end after more than 43 years on the air, which read “Please tell all our fans how deeply sorry I am to be losing this wonderful show that has so much heart and so much life. I will miss my work, my friends, my ‘OLTL’ family so very much. I consider this to be a terrible loss to the television community and especially to the New York community.”

In a bit of irony, Slezak was asked by TV Guide’s Michael Logan back in February her opinion of the rumors that “OLTL” would soon be canceled, in which she stated that “If we get canceled, we get canceled. What can you do? I’ve had 40 years — that’s 38 more than I thought I was going to have. I can’t complain. And I did what my father said. [Laughs] I saved my money!”

In her latest online newsletter, the actress again reached out to “One Life” viewers, saying that “As I said, I am so deeply sorry to be losing this wonderful show, and I know the ‘OLTL’ fans are the most passionate and certainly most loyal group of all of daytime. As far as discussing the cancellation today, I just want to say that I don’t want to dwell on the closing of the show. We will deal with that in the future, as we have another 7 months, and we are going to be telling wonderful stories, and it is going to be a very exciting time for the show – lots of good things apparently in store for everybody!”

She also expressed her sincere gratitude and appreciation to all her loyal fans, friends, former “One Life” cast and crew members, and to everyone else who shared their kind words and memories to her in a special guest book, which was recently presented to Slezak by members of her official fan club. “I was so overwhelmed and blown away by everyone’s kindness. It literally took me days to read through the booklet because I was so touched by the messages, that I couldn’t read it through from start to finish. I don’t know how you all did it,” she remarked.

In addition, Slezak also talked the complexities of filming “OLTL’s” recent special episode, which was dedicated to Viki and some of her alternate personalities Niki Smith and Jean Randolph, explaining that “They hired really nice, good people [for body doubles] who understood exactly what it was they had to do. It is not an easy thing to do because they can’t really act – they just have to feed me the lines, because if they start giving a performance, then I get confused as to what I’m going to do, and I have to react to what I’m going to do. And that is hard because – especially playing Viki first and reacting to Jean and Niki – I have to, in my mind, not listen to the actor playing the part – I have to know exactly how I’m going to be reading the lines and reacting to that.”

When asked about her some of co-stars, she confirms that Brian Kerwin‘s (Charlie) departure was “storyline dictated” (he last airs Wednesday, May 11), and reveals that Kim Zimmer (Echo) is still with “One Life” and continuing to tape more scenes, but that she did take a brief hiatus recently to appear in the play “Curtains” at a theater in Houston.

As for what lies ahead for Viki, Slezak hinted that, while she isn’t exactly sure what will happen to her next, she feels that her alter screen alter ego may be on the verge of reuniting with her two-time ex-husband Clint (Jerry verDorn), commenting that “I’m not sure where they are going, but it would make sense.”

And what about Slezak herself? With “One Life to Live” set to stop filming in November, is the actress still considering taking her annual summer vacation? “[I] Don’t know yet. I have to talk to ['OLTL' Executive Producer] Frank [Valentini] and see what he wants to do because I think after November I’m going to have a long vacation. So we’ll see,” she laments. However, she confesses that she hasn’t really thought about her next career move, saying only that “I called my agent and said ―’Find me a job!’” However, when asked if she would consider a role on a West Coast soap, Slezak said “Oh, absolutely!”

( — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Monday, May 9, 2011.

              IT HAPPENED TODAY…

As Michael, Gloria and Katherine are talking about trying to find Kevin, Kevin and Chloe find themselves staring at homicide charges against them in the death of Jana. Chloe tells the police officer that Kevin was not a part of kidnapping Delia and Lucy. The police officer isn't interested in what they have to say, but rather interested in why the two of them are the only ones able to collaborate each other's stories. He tells them that until otherwise, he's looking at his two prime suspects.

Ashley and Tucker are having a night out at Gloworm, both discussing the troubles of Billy and Victoria when Abby and her group of friends enter rather loudly. Abby, who is already buzzed passes over her credit card to Jeffrey, cheering that they party has to get started. Ashley and Tucker look on in disgust.

Nick arrives at Sharon's home and lets himself in. When he enters, he sees Adam eating Chinese food by the fireplace. Nick demands that he leave immediately or be tossed out. Relishing in the fact that Nick hasn't heard the latest, gladly shares the news that Sharon willed him the house. Big brother isn't buying it, but Adam tells him that the only one that is leaving the house is him. Nick tries to offer Adam money, but Adam doesn't take the bait. He tells Nick that he enjoys being able to stick it to Victor every time he drives on his property to get to his.

Sam offers to give Sharon a job at his home. Although it is a nice gesture, she tells him that she doesn't think so. He asks her if there is a reason; Sharon is hesitant to answer. The two are talking when Sam hears his good friend, Marco calling out to him. Sam tells Sharon that Marco is a buddy of his who is a police officer in the next county. When she gets a glimpse of him, she realizes he's the one that pulled her over when she was on the run.

At the abandoned pre-school, the officer has a hard time believing that Chloe would come alone to help Kevin if she claims that Jana was crazy. When the medical examiner comes over, she says there's no definite determination of death. Kevin realizes that Jana could have had a seizure as she did before. The medical examiner tells them that they won't know the true cause of death until they do an autopsy. The officer has Kevin cuffed, saying he's going in for the outstanding warrant for his arrest in kidnapping Delia and Lucy.

Adam and Nicholas continue to go at it over Sharon. When Adam suggest that he buy Nick out, Nick scoff that he's not going anywhere. Adam tells him about his selling of his stock options and rubs it in his face again that Sharon gave him the house to live in. As he demands for the key that Nick has, Nick spots the news article on Adam's computer about Sharon's death being ruled a suicide. He tells Adam that D.A. Walsh was told not to disclose that as the reason for her being dead. Adam says they need to counteract to clear her reputation. Nick lashes out telling his brother that none of it would have happened if he hadn't entered Sharon's life.

Kevin and Chloe are hauled into the police station. Michael, Gloria and Katherine are happy to see him, until they see him in handcuffs. Michael hurries and whisks Kevin into the interrogation room and has him tell him step by step what happened. Meanwhile, Chloe, who can't keep her mouth shut, spills all to Gloria and Katherine, unaware that D.A. Walsh has overheard a majority of her conversation. He quickly pounces on her, coming up with his own theories on what happened between she and Jana. Before he could get her to talk, Michael shows up and tells him that unless he has solid proof, he's taking both of his clients home.

Abby continues her antics at Gloworm, her friends encouraging her embarrassing behavior. When the youngest Abbott pulls a total stranger toward her, giving him a kiss, Tucker and Ashley intervene. Pulling her to the side, they tell her about Billy and Victoria. Abby is upset to hear the news and even more upset that she can't call Daniel to comfort him. Ashley offers to take her home and when Tucker is ready to get the car, Abby becomes rude to him, telling him that she doesn't need his step-daddy routine. She soon starts to throw his one night stand with Diane in his face, which angers Tucker. He calls her the worst kind of brat and when he spots that Kent is holding a cell phone capturing everything, he snatches from his hands and stomps on it. Unable to be in the same room with her, Ashley and Tucker leave; meanwhile Abby continues to drink it up.

Sharon quickly dons a baseball came and comes out to meet Marco. Quickly mumbling a hello, Sharon tells Sam that she's going to the house to get more blankets. When Sam comments on Sharon's skittish behavior, Marco quickly asks if he'd like for him to do a background check on her. Sam tells him that there's no need to do that, she's fine. Marco leaves and Sharon soon returns. Sam comments that sooner or later, Sharon's going to open up to him on why she's running. When he leaves, Sharon starts reading the comments about her based on the article about her suicide. She's crushed.

Kevin thanks Katherine for not giving up on him. She tells Kevin that she never lost faith and hope for him and that she's glad that he's home. Giving him a hug she ascends upstairs to her room, while Chloe and Delia come out with cupcakes to cheer him up. Kissing Kevin, Chloe tells him that they will get through this together.

OLTL First Look: The Tale of Two Todd's Hits Llanview

( — If you've been living under a rock, you may not have known that Roger Howarth was returning to ABC's "One Life to Live" beginning Friday, May 13. The only question was whether or not he'd be playing the role of Todd Manning or some new character that just happens to look like Todd pre-2003, when Trevor St. John took over the role after it was revealed his initial role as Walker Laurence was really Todd with a face lift. In "The Tale of Two Todd's," Howarth marks his triumphant return to the drama series with the infamous scar and all, so what's the deal? Who is truly Todd?

Based on images released today by the network, it looks like St. John has in fact been portraying an impostor Todd, while Howarth's Todd looks to have been locked away in some sort of psyche ward for the past eight years.

According to ABC, Howarth began filming on Wednesday, May 4. "One Life to Live" Head Writer Ron Carlivati made the decision to quickly insert Howarth on the show shortly after the network canceled the long running soap opera citing poor financial returns from Madison Avenue.
