      Y&R Recap: Monday, April 4, 2011

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Monday, April 4, 2011.

      IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Victoria fills Billy in on Chloe's demands to fire Jana or she'd seek custody of Delia.

Upstairs in the garage apartment, Jana looks over the account number Kevin helped her with; determined to get to the bottom of who paid Primrose to have Daisy's baby. At the coffee house, Chloe is bad mouthing Jana to Kevin, telling him that if Billy doesn't take her serious regarding keeping her away from Delia, she will find a way to stop him from seeing her. As they are talking, Gloria ear hustles on their conversation, more than willing to help find out what her ex daughter-in-law is up to.

Diane is disappointed that she can't seem to put Victor is a better mood. Victor is slightly upset at the news' portrayal of him after his testimony in Sharon's case. At the court house, Jack is discussing Victor's lack of help with Nick, who tells him that regardless of when Victor decided to testify, DA Walsh is doing a very good job at damaging Sharon's character.

At the bank, Jana probes to find out about the bank account number she has. She passes to the teller, telling her that while the money was transfered, the money never was received. When the teller comes back to let her know that the money did go through, Jana asks if there is a way to get documentation on that. She begins to stall when the teller requests her photo ID. Jana has no choice but to leave empty handed.

Sharon is back on the witness stand, and DA Walsh is in for the kill. He asks Sharon, since Adam is so loyal, where is he? She tells him that he's out trying to clear her name. He goes further to point out that her involvement with Adam has managed to turn everyone in her life against her. Things get heated when Walsh brings up her custody battle with Nick and how her love for Adam would have made her do almost anything to prove his innocence: including killing Skye. As they conclude her testimony, Adam walks through the doors of the court room. Walsh orders that Adam be arrested for skipping town.

During the recess of the court case, Jack gets word about Kyle being hurt while at school. When he reached Kyle, he is more than irked to see Victor taking on the daddy role with his son. Jack tells Victor that while he's playing daddy to Kyle, maybe he should be doing the same thing when it comes to his son, Adam.

Victoria informs Jana about her visit from Chloe and how she wants her to be fired. An upset Jana tells Victoria that the only reason why Chloe wants her to lose her job is because of Kevin. Victoria assures her that they aren't firing her.

Billy stops by Chloe's to tell her to back off of Jana. Chloe tells him that she won't have their daughter anywhere near her. After Billy stresses there is nothing she can do about it, Chloe challenges him to watch and see. The troubles continue to mount for Billy when he gets word from the bank that someone was trying to access his account. He calls Victoria to let her know and to shred up their statements. Victoria in turn calls Jana to do it for them.

Sharon and Adam are reunited in the vistor's room. When he shows her the camera, she's elated, thinking that he has the proof to clear her name. Her hopes go up in smoke when he admits that the memory card has been taken out. When Adam asks Vance to put him on the witness stand, the lawyer balks, telling him that his history of lying and scheming would only hurt Sharon's case even further. Before they know it, Vance is informed that Adam will be testifying for the prosecution.

On the Next The Young and the Restless…

      • Jill and Colin have a heart-to-heart.

Roger Howarth Returns to 'One Life to Live' for Sure This Time

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — "One Life to Live" is finally confirming what Soap Opera Network reported last summer (though due to scheduling conflicts and financials did not happen) that Roger Howarth is returning to the ABC soap this summer, though it isn't clear whether he'll be portraying the role of Todd Manning or the REAL Todd Manning.

Despite rumors of "One Life to Live's" pending cancellation, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Howarth will begin filming scenes on the daytime drama beginning in May. "I am looking forward to returning," said Howarth to Digest. "We are going to have a lot of fun telling this story and I am excited to see how it will unfold." The story Howarth is referring to involves Tea's (Florencia Lozano) brother Tomas (Ted King) and his strange interest in Todd and his family. In fact, the show will continue to delve deeper into the storyline in the coming weeks, when it is revealed that both Todd and Tomas have each been keeping something very interesting tucked away in their private records.

"You thought the tease a couple weeks back with Tea  proclaiming this isn’t Todd as she pointed to a picture of Roger Howarth was not the start of something bigger? Think again," said a setside source back in late August when Soap Opera Network originally broke the news. Though we had been told Howarth would begin appearing on the soap as early as December or January, which has since come and gone, Soap Opera Network stuck by its guns and continued to stand by our report that Howarth was indeed returning. This was only reinforced by the shows' reference to Howarth as recent as February 11, 2011, when the show re-aired the wedding of Todd and Blair (Kassie DePaiva). After news broke earlier this evening, Kristen Alderson, who grew up on the show in the role of Starr Manning, tweeted to her 13,000 followers that "It's official!! Daddy's back!!!!!!!!! HUGE STUFF! "

What does news of Howarth's return mean for Trevor St. John? It wouldn't be much of a stretch for the actor to have been playing an impostor after all this time as he originally joined the cast in May 2003 in the role of Walker Laurence, only to be revealed to be Todd Manning, albeit with plastic surgery, in August of that same year. "We are thrilled to have Roger return to 'One Life to Live,'" said Executive Producer Frank Valentini in the Digest report. "As 'OLTL' viewers know, Trevor St. John has been playing the role of Todd Manning since 2003. We have a great story planned that will involve both actors." The news of Howarth's return comes only weeks after we reported that it appeared as if St. John, whose contract with "One Life" expires this month, had decided to one-up with the show.

Since Howarth's last stint on "One Life to Live" in 2003, the actor moved on to CBS' now canceled "As The World Turns" in the role of Paul Ryan until the shows final episode on September 17, 2010.

A first airdate for Howarth has not been set.

ABC Confirms Broderick as 'AMC's' New Head Writer, But Show Not Safe

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As we reported on Saturday, April 2, ABC has now confirmed to Soap Opera Network that Lorraine Broderick has been named head writer of 41-year-old "All My Children." Broderick replaces David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski, whose contracts were not renewed by the network. Unfortunately, Broderick's escalation to the top writing position does not put a stop to rumors of "AMC's" pending cancellation despite reports to the contrary. In fact, in the rarest of instances, ABC did not include a single quote from Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group, or Broderick herself in the press release issued to us confirming the news. This only means one thing soap fans and it's not looking good.

If you want to see "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" remain on the air, as the two are currently rumored to be on the chopping block by ABC, the time is now for soap fans everywhere to put their differences aside and forget that they love them some Jason/Sam, Jack/Erica, Todd/Blair, Todd/Tea, Ryan/Greenlee or even hate them all. If you want to see your favorite soaps still on the air, only you can make that happen. Call in to ABC, write in to Anne Sweeney, President, Disney/ABC Television Group. Otherwise, if you do nothing you'll be left complaining that ABC sucks, Frons should be fired, etc. Your words online mean nothing if ABC itself isn't getting your time, your energy, your effort. Remind yourself that you started watching these shows for a reason and whether you watch it for one couple, one actor or out of pure habit, you stuck with it for a reason. When they are gone, they are gone and will never return. We are down to our final six shows, and without "AMC" and/or "OLTL," we'll be left with just four. How much longer before those four are gone as well? At least in the case of "Days of our Lives," "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful," we know they'll be on the air no matter what throughout 2013 and beyond, but the ABC soaps? We have no definitive word as the network owns their shows and can cancel at any time as we're currently experiencing with rumors surrounding 41-year-old "All My Children" and 42-year-old "One Life to Live."
