( — “All My Children” Episode Recap – Monday, March 7, 2011.

Cara enjoys her bridal shower. Tad convinces Jesse that the wedding is genuine and he agrees to be Tad’s best man. Amanda questions Jake on what he plans to do with Cara’s wedding ring now that she’s given it back to him.

Diane uses Spike as an excuse to get Kendall off the yacht and over to his school so Ricky can have time alone to search for the evidence. Ricky claims to be looking for his cell phone when Kendall returns and questions what he’s doing. Jake catches Griffin going through medical supplies but Griffin covers. When Griffin shows up, Ricky overhears him confess to Kendall about the drugs he stole from the hospital and relays to Diane that they now have dirt on Griffin, if necessary.

JR lays into Colby for posting a video online after their family has already endured so much scandal but since she’s getting a lot of positive responses online Colby decides to leave it up there. Everyone at Cara’s bridal shower sees the video and Liza leaves to go find her daughter.

On the Next All My Children…

  • Cara confronts Amanda for turning her into the feds.
  • Kendall gives Cara a memento for her wedding.
  • JR tells Marissa he wishes he could turn back the clock.

        'DAYS' Casting African American Characters

( — NBC's "Days of our Lives" issues casting calls for 1.5 African American characters, one contract and the other potentially recurring. But why 1.5?

On February 16, Soap Opera Digest announced that a casting call had gone out for the contract role of Ryan, a "17 to 18-year-old Caucasian or African American male," which is where the 0.5 comes from. According to the breakdown released, "Ryan is the all-American high school idol. Gorgeous, well-built quarterback of the football team. Popular, confident and charismatic…the world is at his feet for the taking." The character is scheduled to debut in May.

In addition to Ryan, Soap Opera Network has learned that the show recently released a casting call for the potentially recurring role of Scott. The character is described as a "35 to 44-year-old gorgeous African American male. Scott is a recent divorcee that is trying to get past the pain of his failed marriage and get back into the dating game. He was a superstar athlete in high school. Scott has an effortless charm and a great sense of humor that makes him irresistible to women." The role is currently set as a two show principal with the understanding it could lead to recurring status. No airdate has been set.

By the sounds of both breakdowns, it looks like the show might be casting for father and son, at least that's how we see it.

          Editor's Notebook: Interviews Coming Soon

( — The last time I wrote an edition of the Editor's Notebook was August 12, 2008. A lot has changed in the nearly three years since including the cancellations of both "Guiding Light" and "As The World Turns" by CBS, the near blackout of the Daytime Emmys on broadcast television and news of the end being near for what was considered our soap opera haven, SOAPnet. One thing that hasn't changed, however, is that Soap Opera Network is still around and thriving more than ever before.

Since our relaunch in late January of this year, which included a new layout design and a new outlook, our traffic has been climbing to some of the sites best numbers in years. This is a testament to the hard work that our staff writers have put into the shows they cover day in and day out on our website and you, our readers, and your dedication to learning more about your daily daytime [and primetime] soaps. With that in mind, we have been working very hard in the last couple of weeks to reach out to the soap opera community and learn more about your favorite stars. While in the past we've done interviews and some have not been posted due to reasons we will not get into at the moment, don't fret we'll be posting those "lost" interviews in the coming weeks. But in the mean time, look for interviews from our time with the cast of "Days of our Lives" at 30 Rock where James Scott talks about the Taylor switch, Natalia Livingston and Tamara Braun, actress Devin Mills explains her new websoap "Dating in the Middle Ages," more antics and lessons from the current cast of the Off Broadway show  "Love, Loss and What Wore," and Thom Bierdz from "The Young and the Restless" talks about his book and his return to daytime's top soap.

I look forward to many more editions of the Editor's Notebook and sharing my time and experiences will all of you.

Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo Done and Out?

( — In an interview with Access Hollywood Live hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Thursday, March 3, actress Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo made it clear that her time on ABC's "General Hospital" as Brenda Barrett (now Corinthos) will soon come to a close after her contract with the drama series expires.

"I came back to honor my roots. These are the people that I grew up with. I haven't been a regular on the show in 13 years. It was like going to an incredible high school reunion," said Marcil Giovinazzo of her time back at the Prospect Studios where "GH" is filmed. "We had so much fun. I have so much respect for these people. They work so hard. I loved being there. We shot the wedding for seven days. We just had the best time. There were all these insane things that happened and now after the wedding, there's a lot of drama because now my time [on 'General Hospital'] is almost done."

While a final airdate has not been set, nor is ABC commenting on her statements, Marcil Giovinazzo shared that she won't be closing the door on returning to the soap in the future. "I have always been in touch with the headwriters and the producer. I've always loved the show and I've always said 'I'll come back and visit for the rest of my life if they'll have me.' I love to visit there. I love the people. It really is kind of the greatest character I feel like I've ever played as far as feeling challenged and satisfied. It is a great group of people."

'Y&R' Actor Darius McCrary Launches Debut Album

( — "The Young and the Restless" Darius McCrary, who portrays Malcolm Winters not only has acting in his blood, but also music. This spring, the young actor, best known as ‘Eddie Winslow’ from the family-oriented sitcom Family Matters will release his first album, The Dissertation of Darius McCrary.

Although many may know McCrary as an actor, he has been performing music for quite some time, even getting together with five other musicians, one being his brother, Donovan, to form the band, The D List. Over the course of time, after doing performances at various private parties and gathering up a steady fan base, it gave the band more opportunities to book at other various venues.

The Dissertation of Darius McCrary, slated to debut April 11, will have a familiar singer backing him. 10 time Grammy Award winning R&B songstress, Chaka Khan, served as executive producer on the album. According to McCrary, his debut album isn’t set for one key audience, but rather geared toward anyone that loves music, regardless of race and age
