The Young and the Restless” has bumped veteran actress Judith Chapman (Gloria Abbott Bardwell) to recurring status according to published reports. She joins “Y&R” co-stars Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe), Ted Shackelford (Jeffrey Bardwell), Thom Bierdz (Phillip Chancellor III) and a number of other daytime actors in the recurring line (for some, they had been recurring since they joined or returned).

Chapman joined the cast in 2005 when she replaced “Dallas” and “Knot’s Landing” star Joan Van Ark as the mother of Michael (Christian J. LeBlanc) and Kevin (Greg Rikaart).

In addition to her role on “The Young and the Restless,” Chapman has appeared in all but two current daytime soaps (“The Bold and the Beautiful” and “All My Children” being the exceptions). She made her television debut in 1975 when she portrayed the role of Natalie Bannon Hughes on CBS’ canceled “As The World Turns.” In the late 1980s, she also filled in for co-star Jess Walton in the role of Jill Abbott when the actress became ill.
