Tonja Walker’s ‘One Life’ Return Set

Tonja Walker's 'One Life' Return Set

( — Tonja Walker may be returning to “One Life to Live,” but don’t look for Alex to be coming back to Llanview anytime soon.  On Tuesday, March 15, she receives two familiar visitors, while still living it up in the life of luxury on Asa’s tropical island paradise, St. Blaze’s.

As we previously reported, Bo learns the truth from Rex that Clint had David (Tuc Watkins, who also resurfaces the week of March 14) thrown in a Moroccan prison and left for dead.  The pair then reluctantly head for the desert nation to find the elusive Buchanan heir.  However, once there things don’t go as smoothly as planned, and their search soon takes them elsewhere — to a more tropical climate, after receiving an important clue on Friday, March 11.

Enter Alex Olanov, whom you may recall accepted the island resort from Nigel (who inherited it from Asa), in exchange for her silence after learning that David Vickers was really a Buchanan.  But will Alex welcome her guests with open arms, or has she been cavorting with the enemy?

Either way, don’t look for Walker or Alex to stick around for very long.  The actress noted last month on Facebook that she was only returning for two episodes, although she would be open to more if the show would make her an offer.

On a related note, expect to see more the Buchanan’s trusty butler Nigel (Peter Bartlett) in the coming weeks as he learns some details of his his boss’ antics, which could place him in a precarious situation.

In other news…

If you think you have seen the last of Beth (Aitana Rinab) and Brad (Frank Dolce), the two obnoxious teens helping Jack bully Shane, guess again.  The pint-sized thugs will return again by mid-March.

'One Life to Live' Celebrates Erika Slezak's 40th Anniversary with Special Episode

( — The long-running ABC soap pays tribute to six-time Daytime Emmy winner Erika Slezak in celebration of her 40th anniversary of playing Llanview’s matriarch Victoria Lord with a special episode dedicated to her on Tuesday, April 26.  “I was so touched I started to cry [when I found out]. It’s so sweet. But I was kind of hoping it would all go by unnoticed,” the actress tells TVGuide‘s Michael Logan.

Slezak became the third actress to play Viki, who was originated by Gillian Spencer, on March 17, 1971.  She remains “One Life to Live’s” longest-running cast member, while Viki is the show’s only remaining original character.  But, despite spending four decades in Llanview, Slezak laments that she doesn’t think that reaching this milestone is all that special.  “I came to this show without a fuss — I crept in rather quietly — and when I leave I want to go out that way, too. I don’t like fuss. It’s a little embarrassing.” Even so, she confesses to Logan that “I think it’s just so darling that they want to do this special show for me, and I am deeply honored. I only have one concern — that I do it justice.”  She reveals she was informed about the decision by the show’s Executive Producer Frank Valentini, who told her that “We’re writing a show for you.”

As for details of special episode, she admits “I haven’t seen the script yet but I think it’s going to include a lot of me. [Laughs] No flashbacks or anything. I think they’re going to dredge up a lot of what’s going on in Viki’s life right now and how she’s dealing with it.”

Slezak also addresses the persistent cancellation rumors regarding “One Life to Live” and sister soap “All My Children,” noting that “If we get canceled, we get canceled. What can you do? I’ve had 40 years — that’s 38 more than I thought I was going to have. I can’t complain. And I did what my father said. [Laughs] I saved my money!”

To read the full interview, which also includes her reflections on a number of other topics, including working with Kim Zimmer and Robin Strasser, her memories of the late Phil Carey and Clint Ritchie, and auditioning for the role of Viki with “One Life” creator Agnes Nixon, click here.

                  The 2010 Daytime Airhog Awards

Who hogged the most airtime in all of 2010? Steve Burton slips out of the number one slot due to competition from a relatively new co-star’s record-breaking year.

As the year 2010 came to a close, so did a years worth of tracking appearances of contract and recurring actors on daytime’s remaining soap operas. “General Hospital’s” Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) top the list of appearances in 2010 as the male duo from the ABC soap respectively appeared in 234 and 224 out of 249 episodes. Those totals denote a noticeable rise from the amount of episodes 2009′s leaders Burton (208) & “Days of Our Lives” Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker; 207) appeared in. In 2010, airing in 234 episodes, Zamprogna also beat the record formerly held by “All My Children’s” Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart Slater) and Lindsay Hartley (as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on NBC’s “Passions”) for most appearances in a year; Hartley appeared in 233 episodes in 2006 and Minshew appeared in the same amount of episodes in 2007. Enjoying an eight month long maternity leave in 2010, Minshew missed the list this year. Meanwhile, swapping from NBC to ABC and the time off in-between kept Hartley off the 2010 list, as well. ABC, CBS and NBC produced between 249 and 252 episodes of soap opera hours for each soap (except for the canceled CBS sudser “As the World Turns”) last year.

The Inside Story: Backstabbers and Betrayals
When Adam steps forward to ‘help’ Victor’s fight, Victoria, Nick and Abby are floored and disgusted. Nick and Victoria immediately try their best to get the judge to see that Adam is lying, however, the judge wants to take a look at the new evidence that has been presented. The minute alone, Nick slams Victor and tells him that regardless of what the outcome will be, Victor will never have the respect of his children. Victor, unfortunately for them, is unfazed by his son’s words. Meanwhile, Phyllis blabs to Jack about the latest development. Jack becomes suspicious and points out to Phyllis that he believes that Victor has something over on Adam to make him join in helping him win the arbitration. Abby, still reeling from the matters of the case, takes aim at Victoria, accusing her sister of manipulating her into going against Victor in the first place. Victoria is upset that Abby would even suggest that she would do that to her. As for Nick, he makes sure to inform Sharon that Adam came to the arbitration and testified to help Victor. Sharon is stunned that Adam would resort to helping Victor after all that he’s been through with the older Newman. She begs Adam to do what is right, which hits a nerve with Adam as to how much Sharon really cares for him. But for Adam, he isn’t sure that backing out of his agreement with Victor is the right thing: he doesn’t want Sharon to go to prison for something she didn’t do. He says that he would rather take the fall than see her suffer. Victor, sensing that Adam may back out of their ‘agreement’, continues to work him over by assuring him that by helping him will keep Sharon out of prison. Despite Sharon’s pleas for Adam to break his deal with Victor, Adam has no choice but to stick to it; especially after Victor makes a threat to throw him under the bus if he backs out.

She demands to know why he’s back in town and Ryder doesn’t hesitate to keep Jana on her toes by letting her know that he can make her life a living hell. Meanwhile, Kevin’s past also seems to be coming back on him when the Governor who helped do away with his Silver Chipmunk crimes returns to Genoa City.
