(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — John McBain is about to receive some advice from an old friend just when he may need it the most.  Horror fiction writer Peter Straub has announced that he is reprising his “One Life” role of Pete Braust, the blind, former police partner of Lt. McBain’s late father.

Straub, who had appeared on “One Life to Live” from time to time since 2006, announced on his Twitter page Monday that “Now all I do is walk around spouting the lines from my 8 new scenes in OLTL. Pete Braust slides back into view, advising Lt. McBain.”

Best known for such books as “If You Could See Me Now,” “Ghost Story,” “Koko,” “Mystery,” and “The Hellfire Club,” Straub has won several literary honors including The Bram Stoker, World Fantasy, and International Horror Guild Awards.

An airdate for his lastest scenes has not been announced.

“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Anytime on ABC.com and SOAPnet.com. Check local listings.
