(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — After Kevin Schmidt took a leave from CBS' "The Young and the Restless" after being cast as the lead in the Cartoon Network original series "Unnatural History" earlier this year, fans began wondering what would happen to their favorite Newman offspring. In August, Soap Opera Digest announced on their website that actor Luke Kleintank had been cast in the role of Noah Newman. Now Soap Opera Network has the scoop on Noah's return.

When we last saw Noah, he had left for Paris, France with lady love Eden Gerick (Vanessa Marano) – the two had been fighting family outrage over their coupling, but upon acceptance, Eden found herself being framed for multiple crimes by Daisy Callahan. When Noah returns to Genoa City on Tuesday, September 21, it will be without Eden and his first scenes will be with mom Sharon (Sharon Case) and dad Nicholas (Joshua Morrow). Look for Noah to finally get some bonding time with his little sister Faith, and a warm welcome home from step-mom Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).

Kleintank is best known for his role as Elliot in the widely popular "Gossip Girl" television series, which airs Monday nights of The CW. In 2009, he appeared in episodes of CBS' "The Good Wife" and NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" and "Mercy."

"The Young and the Restless" airs Weekdays on CBS. Anytime on CBS.com.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — The devil gets his due … or does he?

In the September 14, 2010 issue of Soap Opera Digest, “All My Children” Co-Head Writers David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski report that Emmy-winner Vincent Irizarry is out as David Hayward, a role the actor has played off and on for the better part of the last 13 years.

Normally news of the exit of Pine Valley’s finest bad boy would upset the masses – but online fans are savvy to the way of their daytime dramas and many smell something fishy. “AMC” and sister-soap “One Life to Live” (Florencia Lozano’s character Tea recently died at the hands of an evil menace) are now both running stories – and releasing actor exit announcements – that have some online fans questioning if these lethal exits are just well orchestrated rating ploys. These fans suspect both David and Tea will both return from the dead in due time and that their revivals will have been in the cards all along.

We’ll keep you updated. Either way, Dr. Hayward kicks the bucket in style this Friday on “AMC.” Friday won’t be the last we’ll see of David’s brand of bad, though - he’ll pop up as a ghost next week. Irizarry, meanwhile, is keeping busy. The talented actor recently landed a guest-role on an episode of CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles.” The episode will air this fall.

Update (Sept. 4): Today on his Official Fan Page on Facebook, Rachel Anderson – who appears to run the page – reported that Irizarry is in the middle of contract negotiations and his current story was created in part to deal with the results of those negotiations. Anderson passed on this note from the actor himself, “if I do return to AMC, it will be in greater part because of this wonderful outpouring from all of you who love the show and David as much as I do.” While this adds to the drama (by chance … or on purpose), and confirms fan speculation that David’s demise was created as a less than permanent ratings ploy – it also puts fans more on edge than ever about the ultimate fate of Hayward and Irizarry in Pine Valley.

In other casting news, Susan Lucci, who plays the one and only Erica Kane, returns with Walt Willey, who plays Jackson Montgomery (one of Erica’s many men), to tape at “AMC” next week. Lucci has been on an extended summer vacation since June which has allotted alter-ego Erica and her main man Jackson a nearly 3-month long pre-wedding honeymoon sail around the world. Erica and Jack return to Pine Valley on Wednesday, October 6. Upon their returns, look for Erica to continue to be entangled with Caleb (Michael Nouri); while Jackson gets pulled into Mrs. Hayward’s (Rebecca Budig) major legal woes.

“All My Children” airs Weekdays on ABC. “AMC” also airs 24/7 online at ABC.com.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Kristine Sutherland, best known to audiences as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s clueless mum Joyce Summers on The WB/UPN hit “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-2003), has been cast in the recurring role of a new Dean at Llanview University, and will factor into at least one of the soap’s upcoming fall storylines.

Look for the actress to first air on Friday, September 17th when Langston puts her plan to get Ford fired from his teaching job at LU in motion.  And, with so many characters hanging around the campus in the coming months, it is likely not the last we will being seeing of the new Dean either.

In addition to “Buffy,” Sutherland also appeared in the 1989 film “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” along with guest spots on “Remington Steele,” “Easy Street,” and “Providence.”

“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Anytime on ABC.com and SOAPnet.com. Check local listings.
