ABC’s ‘What if…’ Ready for Launch

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — ABC Daytime prepares to debut the much anticipated series of cross-over webisodes featuring the stars of “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” and “General Hospital.”  

As we first reported in May, the series of 10 four-minute oline episodes will feature cast members from each of the network’s three daytime dramas ineracting with one another in various situations, and will be directed by “One Life to Live” Executive Producer Frank Valentini.  Look for the first ones to air on Monday, July 12th.

According to Adam Rockmore, Senior Vice President of Marketing for ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, “We are always looking for ways to drive deeper viewer engagement with our fans. These webisodes are a fun way to answer a long-standing fan question about what would happen in a soap-mash-up.”

Here is the schedule in which the webisodes will air, along with a plot summary, per an ABC press release:

Week 1 (July 12):
“All My Children’s” Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and “General Hospital’s” Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard): When Sonny’s plan to use Erica as an alibi goes awry, his claustrophobia gets the best of both of them.

“All My Children’s” Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison) and “General Hospital’s” Carly Jacks (Laura Wright): Carly gives Ryan a refresher course on how to channel his inner bad boy.

“One Life To Live’s” Todd Manning (Trevor St. John) and “General Hospital’s” Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson): Spinelli’s fear of flying frustrates Todd to no end and unexpectedly changes their flight plan.

Week 2 (July 19):
“All My Children’s” Greenlee Smythe (Rebecca Budig) and “General Hospital’s” Jason Morgan (Steve Burton): A drunken Greenlee pours her heart out (and more) to a very sober Jason Morgan.  

Week 3 (July 26):
“All My Children’s” Angie and Jesse Hubbard (Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams) and “One Life To Live’s” Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson): When Angie and Jesse argue about a dry spell in the romance department, Starr reminds them what matters most in life.  

Week 4(Aug. 2):
“One Life To Live’s” Tess (Bree Williamson) and “General Hospital’s” Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna): When Dante and Tess realize they’ve met before, she tries to seduce him for old time’s sake.

Week 5 (Aug. 9):
“General Hospital’s” Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and “One Life to Live’s” Viki Banks (Erika Slezak): Bonded by their respective heart problems, Viki and Luke commiserate over lost love.

Week 6 (Aug. 16):
“General Hospital’s” Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and “One Life to Live’s” Rex Balsom (John- Paul Lavoisier): Maxie and Rex debate the pros and cons of young love, while suddenly faced with their own mortality.

Week 7 (Aug. 23):
“One Life To Live’s” Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) and “All My Children’s” Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight): After comparing notes on their messy love lives, Tad and Blair realize they dance to the same tune.
 
Week 8 (Aug. 30):
“One Life To Live’s” John McBain (Michael Easton) and “General Hospital’s” Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco): After getting trapped in an elevator in a burning building, Sam and John get to know each other better than they ever thought they would.

The webisodes will air on abc.com, and soapnet.com, and later in shortened form on ABC and SOAPnet.  In addition, preview clips will be available of each episode the Wednesday before it is scheduled to air online.

Viki and Charlie pull together in a united front and vow to get Dorian and David to see the truth about their feelings for one another.

IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Maxie recounts details of Franco’s visit and Jason, Dante and Spinelli try to find significance in the 66 roses. Franco tries to reassure his mother that his motives and actions are justified all in the name of his art. He believes he can shape reality through his greatest masterpiece. Franco visits Carly at the Metro Court Restaurant.

Sonny lies to Alexis, assuring her he did not plant the car bomb that almost killed their daughter. Claire tells Johnny there is no evidence linking Sonny to the car bomb. Johnny comes to Alexis’ home and ends his relationship with Kristina. Olivia demands to know the truth from Sonny.

Robin expresses how much she missed Patrick, appreciating all that they share and apologizing for her behavior prior to her trip. He is tortured by guilt of having cheated with Lisa.

Carly feigns casual at Jax and Skye’s pretend love affair.

IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Despite trying to get Annie out of the cottage, JR winds up listening to her reason for coming. Annie recounts memories of being on the run from her first husband and details her struggle of survival for her and Emma. AJ tells Marissa he wants her to take him to see his dad.

Erica tries to work Caleb into getting his half of Cortlandt Electronics. David promises Greenlee they will get their mansion back from Caleb. When Erica fills Caleb in on what David did (cause the crash that ruined his house), Caleb thinks it’s only fitting that he now take David’s.

Ryan overhears David on the phone with the SEC agent indicating he is sending in his final payment and would have never confessed if he didn’t know for sure that he’d face little-to-no charges.

Madison decides to find another place to stay for the sake of her relationship with Ryan and Frankie says she can stay with him and Randi.

  • Angie becomes disoriented.

  • Monday (encore of the 05/24/10 episode): Title Not Available — John pours out his heart to Natalie.  Natalie keeps her tryst with Brody a secret.  Ford is beaten and left for dead.  Markko tells Cristian and Layla of Langston and Markko’s affair.  Penny gets Rex and Gigi out of jail, and gives them a peek in the mysterious box.  Jessica tells Brody her memory has returned. 
  • Tuesday: Title Not Available – Hannah tries to cut a deal with John.  Brody forgives Jessica for her encouter with Ford.  Eli confronts Ford.  Todd discovers both Starr and Dani as he prepares to face off with Bull.  Kelly asks Rex if he has any information for her yet.  Kelly wonders why Blair hasn’t said yes to Eli’s marriage proposal.
