(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — When CBS' "As The World Turns" goes off the air in September, "General Hospital" will become the longest running current soap on the air, but did you know that "GH" is also the youngest skewing of all soaps?

According to Nielsen Media Research data for the week of May 17, 2010 (previously noted as week of May 24), "General Hospital's" median age was 50.6, which was nearly 10 points lower when compared to daytime's oldest skewing soap, "The Bold and the Beautiful," whose median age was 58.7. "GH" is flat in year-to-year comparisons, while "B&B" is down nearly two whole points (or 3%), making whatever stories the soap is telling more appealing to younger women. "The Young and the Restless," which has spent over 20 years at the top of the ratings charts, is CBS' youngest skewing program with a median age of 57.8 (down 2% year-to-year).

What follows are each soaps rank, median age, and percent change year-to-year:

Rank Soap Median Age Percent Change (%)
          1 General Hospital 50.6 N/C
          2 One Life to Live 52.5 +1%
          3 All My Children 55.2 +2%
          4 Days of our Lives 55.5 +4%
5 The Young and the Restless 57.8 -2%
          6 As The World Turns 58.3 -2%
7 The Bold and the Beautiful 58.7 -3%
