(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Despite Michael’s (Chad Duell) wishes that Jason (Steve Burton) stay out of it when it comes to Carter’s treatment of him, Jason takes matters into his own hands when he kills the prisoner on the Friday, June 11 episode of ABC’s “General Hospital.” Of course, being cliffhanger Friday, look for actor Josh Wingate, who portrays Carter, to exit the soap on Monday, June 14.

Wingate joined the cast of the soap in May as Carter, shortly after Michael was sentenced to five years in prison for killing his step-mother last fall. In a first for daytime, it quickly became apparent that Carter was possibly sexually abusing the young boy despite his father being the biggest crime boss in the North East, that being Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

In an interview with TV Guide.com’s Michael Logan, “GH” Head Writer Robert Guza Jr. explained that while many have assumed that Michael had been raped multiple times by the prison inmate, “I have never confirmed that he was and I’m not about to.”

“Our focus right now is on the horrific experience of an 18- or 19-year-old who is thrown into a terrible situation like this,” said Guza. “I just didn’t want to make the story more specific at this point. However, that’s not to say that I won’t be getting very specific in three or four or five months down the line. This situation is going to rear its ugly head in a big way and Michael is going to have to deal with it. This is a story that needs to be parceled out.”

According to ABC, as Carter crumples to the floor dying, he tells Jason, “Franco says hi.” That being the character of Franco, played by James Franco, who is returning to the soap later this month.

In addition to his work on “General Hospital,” Wingate has appeared in such television shows as FX’s “Justified” and ABC’s “FlashForward.” He can next be seen in the films “Priest” and “Fuzz Track City.”

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — James Franco is marking his return to ABC’s “General Hospital” in a big way this summer as daytime’s most original soap opera breaks new ground in storytelling.

On Wednesday, June 30, “GH” welcomes actor James Franco back into the fold as his psychedelic character Franco returns to Port Charles after suddenly disappearing last fall.

“Working on ‘General Hospital’ was a great experience. I love the cast, writers, directors and producers. They have become a new family for me. I can’t wait for the work we will do this summer,” said Franco in a statement.

“We are so thrilled to welcome James back to ‘General Hospital,’” says Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps. “We had such a great time with him and are very excited that he decided to return to Port Charles to take care of unfinished business.”

Clues of Franco’s return begins to surface next week when Jason (Steve Burton) confronts Michael’s (Chad Duell) attacker, Carter (Joshua Wingate), who has been physically abusing the young boy since he was sentenced last month for killing his step-mother last fall. According to ABC, after Jason stabs Carter in the stomach on Friday, June 11, while in the shower room no less, Carter’s dying words will be “Franco says hi.”

Look for Jason to join forces with sworn enemy Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), who is also Michael’s older brother, in a quest to track down Franco and be rid of the man once and for all.

          Watkins’ ‘Desperate’ New ‘Life’

          Photo: Yolanda Perez/ABC

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Tuc Watkins will soon be spending less time in Llanview and more time on Wisteria Lane as the actor has been upgraded to a series regular on “Desperate Housewives.”

Watkins, who has been portraying gay lawyer Bob Hunter (alongside Kevin Rahm who plays his partner Lee McDermott) on the primetime sudser on a recurring basis since October 2007, will become a contract member of the cast when the show begins its seventh season this fall on ABC.

The actor tells Access Hollywood that the “the timing works out perfectly,” and that “I’m doing the play [White Lies] for eight weeks and then when ‘Desperate Housewives’ starts up again in mid-July, I go back to do that on a hopefully more [regular basis].”

But what does this mean with regards to his latest stint on “One Life to Live?”   Watkins recently signed a short-term contract with the sudser to reprise his role of David Vickers.  However, news of Watkins becoming a regular on “DH” broke the same day that “OLTL” persona returnted to Llanview.  He is expected to remain with “One Life” until the middle of next month, when taping is scheduled to resume on “Desperate Housewives.”

“I played David Vickers on ‘One Life To Live’ for a year the way he was written, which was a cool, mysterious con man and I was unremarkable at doing that and then one day I accidentally fell down the stairs while trying to be cool and mysterious and everybody laughed at me.  That’s when I realized, he’s not a cool mysterious character, he thinks he’s a cool mysterious character. And that’s when the David Vickers that we know today was really born,” Watkins comments to Access Hollywood.  “That was [a breakthrough moment]. I’d have to call that an Oprah, ‘Ah ha!’ moment. And it informed the way I take on other roles.”

In addition to “One Life to Live” and “Desperate Housewives,” Watkins is currently appearing on stage in New York City as Joe White in the play “White Lies.” The character is described as ” a roguish divorce lawyer and lady-killer whose mother’s dying wish is to see her son produce a grandchild.”

Tuc Watkins originated the role of David Vickers on “One Life to Live” in 1994, and has portrayed the comedic conman off an on ever since.  From 1996-97 he played the recurring role of Dr. Pierce Dorman on “General Hospital.”  Other television credits include “Beggars and Choosers,” “Sisters,” “Melrose Place,” and “Six Feet Under,” as well as the film “The Mummy.”

“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Anytime on ABC.com and SOAPnet.com. Check local listings.
