(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Actress Helen Wagner, who for 54-years portrayed the role of Nancy Hughes on CBS’ “As The World Turns” has died at the age of 91. According to a statement released by “World Turrns” producers, TeleNext Media, Inc., the actress died on Saturday, May 1, 2010.
“All of us at ‘As the World Turns’ are deeply saddened by Helen’s passing,” executive producer Christopher Goutman said in a statement. “She is loved by generations of fans, and while we will miss her greatly Helen will always remain the heart and soul of ‘As the World Turns.’”
Wagner uttered the soaps first word on the drama series when it premiered on April 2, 1956 saying simply “Good morning, dear.”
It was unclear as to the cause of death and where Wagner had died.
