(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — David Hasselhoff is the latest in a series of returns from stars who’ve left their soap and made it big in other areas of television and movies, as the actor is returning to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” when he reprises his role of Dr. William “Snapper” Foster on the drama series next month.

Beginning Tuesday, June 15, look for Hasselhoff to kick off a five episode stint on the show when Snapper returns to Genoa City to take care of his ailing mother, Liz (Julianna McCarthy), and catch up with his sister Jill (Jess Walton) and friend of the family, Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). Joining him for the emotional scenes will be real-life daughter Taylor Hasselhoff, who appears as a nurse.

“I adore these people,” said the actor in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “They’re like family to me.”

From 1975 to 1982, Hasselhoff starred on the daytime drama series long before he made a name for himself elsewhere via roles in such series as “Knight Rider” and “Baywatch” in the 1980’s. He was also a judge on NBC’s popular summer series “America’s Got Talent,” which debuts its new season on Tuesday, June 1 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. It was announced in January 2010 that Hassehoff would not be participating in the shows fifth season as he had other commitments.
