(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “All My Children” pays tribute to one of its most memorable characters.

The sad news of James Mitchell’s passing came out on the night of January 22. In the weeks that followed, “All My Children” and other sources have begun to leak details of the tribute they’re planning for the popular character Mitchell played on the soap from 1979 to 2010, Palmer Cortlandt.

Over the past several weeks, The Official Taylor Miller Facebook has confirmed that Miller and Gillian Spencer are both scheduled to return to tape episodes surrounding Palmer’s death later this month. Miller played Palmer’s daughter, Nina, off and on from 1979 to 1989. The actress has also appeared on NBC’s “Another World.” Spencer of course played one of Palmer’s favorite ex-wife’s and Nina’s mother, Daisy Murdoch, from 1979 to 1989. Spencer has appeared on several soaps including “The Edge of Night,” “The Secret Room,” “Guiding Light,” “As the World Turns” and “One Life to Live” where she originated the role of Victoria Lord. The talented actress is also a soap writer, she has written for “AW,” “ATWT,” “AMC” and “Days of Our Lives.”

Storyline wise expect Palmer’s long-time nemesis, Adam Chandler (David Canary), to be deeply affected by the loss of his favorite enemy and sometimes friend. This will enable David Canary’s exit from the soap this April, as Adam re-evaluates his life and decides to make some changes.

Palmer’s memorial is scheduled to air, give or take, around the week of April 19th. Soap Opera Network will keep you updated as more information comes out.

“All My Children” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings. “AMC” now also airs online at ABC.com and can be accessed 24/7.
