My View of Llanview: February 15 Edition

We have be only halfway through the month, however, it is already evident that sweeps period is a bust for the poor folks in Llanview. With the show slipping into last place in the ratings, if the next few weeks are anything last the last two, expect them to remain in the soap cellar. What can I say about "One Life to Live" lately, other than "wow....what a disappointment." Why does this show continue to spotlight hated and already overexposed characters and plotlines? If it hasn't budged the ratings in several months, why would it start now? And are dazzling special effects a substitute for good writing and acting? Of course not; but while you and...

‘OLTL’ Early March Casting Highlights

Although her character isn't even dead yet (at least not until February 16th), Crystal Hunt makes an otherworldly return to "One Life to Live" in the coming weeks. On Wednesday, March 3rd, the deceased pole dancer comes to her sister Gigi in a vision to ask her to be a surrogate mother to little Sierra Rose.  According to Soap Opera Digest, Roscoe Born has already taped his final scenes as Mitch Laurence.  The actor tells SOD that "I finally got to have some scenes with 'Roxy' and they went really well. It was announced yesterday that actress Annie Ilonzeh has been cast in the contract role of Maya Ward, the daughter of Faith Ward and niece of Justus Ward (last played by M'fundo Morrison). She is also the great grand-daughter of Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle). According to ABC, Maya will play heavily in the upcoming Quartermaine family story-arc and will find herself involved with a certain Spencer, who will surely be a Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) man despite the woes he's going through right now or will it be his younger bro Ethan (Nathan Parsons)? Maya will also be joining the General Hospital staff as an intern, who has no patience for bad boys due to a previous experience. Could we have another anti-Jason/Sonny...

ABC's "General Hospital" has cast actress Lisa Waltz to portray the role of Melissa Bauer, Kiefer's (Christian Alexander) mother starting next month on the drama series. Waltz joins Bradley Cole (ex-Jeffrey O'Neill), who we learned on Tuesday was joining the cast in the role of Carlton Bauer, Kiefer's father. Both actors will be on recurring status with the soap. UPDATE: The soap has renamed Cole's character to Warren Bauer according to ABC sources. Soap Opera Network first broke the news on our Twitter page on Thursday, and we've since learned that the presence of the two Bauer parents is due to a major turning point in the teen abuse storyline currently playing out on the soap...
