Gregory Helps Bring Reality to Llanview

Thursday, August 13, 2009 12:36 AM ET | By Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Earlier this week, David Vickers returned to Llanview with a camera crew in tow, hoping to film a new reality show using some of the town’s leading families. Now SON has learned new details about the actor portraying the would-be show’s producer, Ford.

Back in Llanview for only two days, viewers have already seen the lovable conman David Vickers (Tuc Watkins, who is expected to remain in Llanview through at least November) and his entourage get hosed down by Dorian and shot down by Viki. They also saw one member of the crew, Ford, get yanked out of the bushes by Jessica Brennan, who mistakes the reality show producer for her mysterious stalker.

Portraying Ford is 24-year-old Fairbanks, Alaska native David Gregory (no relation to the NBC news correspondent of the same name), who sat down recently to talk with the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

Gregory mentions that he is currently filming a new romantic comedy directed by James L. Brooks. The as-yet-untitled film also stars Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Jack Nicholson and Paul Rudd. “The filming is taking place in Philadelphia and other cities until the fall,” the paper notes.

One of three sons, the aspiring actor’s first stage performance came at an early age, when he impersonated Jerry Lewis as part of a local contest. According to the News-Miner, Gregory is also an accomplished dancer, whose credits include “the Fairbanks Summer Fine Arts Camp, the North Star Ballet, the Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, the Fairbanks Drama Association, the UAF Music Department, the Mo Holland Dance Studio, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival and other groups and individuals. “

In addition to his scenes this week, David Gregory is also expected to air as Ford on August 19, 20, 26, 27, Sept. 8 and 16.

“I haven’t watched a soap in years but I guess I’m going to start now,” comments Gregory’s mother Carol.
