Nikolas Cassadine Gets a New Heir

Friday, July 24, 2009 2:23 PM PT | By Errol Lewis

Tyler Christopher (SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Spencer Cassadine is changing faces for the fifth time in three years when newcomer Davin Ransom takes over the role beginning next month on ABC’s “General Hospital.”

Ransom, who is rumored to be portraying the role of a Young Tony Stark in the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster “Iron Man,” first airs on Thursday, August 13. Earlier this year the actor appeared in an episode of the defunct ABC comedy “In the Motherhood.” The series starred Megan Mullally, Cheryl Hines and Jessica St. Clair.

Spencer Cassadine is the son of Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher, pictured) and Courtney Matthews (Alicia Leigh Willis). The child was conceived during an affair the two had while Courtney was married to Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) and Nikolas was involved with Emily Quartermaine (Natalia Livingston). Courtney died while giving birth to Spencer in February 2006. Rami Yousef was the last actor to portray Spencer.

At this time it is unclear what role the character will play in future storyline’s involving his father Nikolas, but according to Tyler Christopher at his event during the “GH” Fan Club Weekend, the character of Spencer will remain true to his age, which would lead one to believe that the show might be ready to show Nikolas’ softer side.

“General Hospital” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Check local listings.
