The Inside Story: Taking the Fall
A cunning Annie plays Adam like a fiddle after he turns down her marriage proposal. Annie is confident she’s well on her way to becoming the next Mrs. Adam Chandler. Zach decides to take matters into his own hands when Kendall refuses to drop the assertion that she killed Stuart. Slater arrives at the Chandler mansion on Monday, July 27, where he manages to lure Annie out to the terrace right before he fires a shot in Adam’s direction. Annie is left with a smoking gun as Zach slips away unseen. Scott believes Annie’s claim that she was set up, but Adam isn’t so sure. Annie is arrested on Tuesday, July 28. Jesse and Zach make a tacit agreement to keep each other’s secrets. Kendall tells Erica she’s sure she killed Stuart and repressed the memory. Kendall realizes what Zach’s done. Zach tries to make Kendall see that the ends justify the means and the guilty party is getting just what she deserves. Back at the hospital, after an interesting chat with A.D.A Willis, Emma confronts a stressed Adam with the claim that they both know that it wasn’t her mother who killed Stuart. Zach grows frustrated with Kendall who’s unable to placate her guilt. Ryan confronts Zach with his suspicions after visiting Annie. Kendall tells Ryan that she is the one who killed Stuart. Marissa questions Annie who points the finger at Zach. Liza explains to a conflicted Marissa that Annie’s guilt or innocence is of no relevance to the job they’ve been hired to do. JR and Scott clash over Annie. Annie insists that Jesse is in cahoots with Zach to crucify her. Jesse shuts Natalia down when she attempts to point out the many discrepancies in the case against Annie on Wednesday, July 29. The judge refuses to dismiss Kendall’s case but agrees to a postponement. Erica demands that Kendall drop the idea of confessing to Stuart’s murder on Thursday, July 30. Jackson issues Zach a warning after agreeing to take Annie’s case. Annie makes a heartfelt declaration to Adam. Adam tells Ryan that he’s sure Annie is telling the truth about the shooting. Ryan doesn’t know if he can go through with letting Annie take the fall for Stuart’s murder. Erica insists to Ryan that they’re doing the right thing and reminds Ryan of Annie’s past crimes. Annie turns to Aidan for help to smoke Zach out; the P.I. instead decides to provide Zach with an alibi for the night Adam was shot at. Kendall goes to see Annie. Natalia shares her theory with Adam and Scott on Friday, July 31. Adam forces Jesse to release Annie. Annie’s triumphant return to the mansion leaves Little Adam and a bristling JR out in the cold again. Jesse tells Zach and Ryan that he has to take Kendall into custody immediately. Kendall surrenders to Jesse.
