(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Former “General Hospital” and “Bold and the Beautiful” star Sean Kanan plead no contest to misdemeanor DUI charges on December 13 after he was arrested earlier this year by the LAPD for drunk driving.

Upon his arrest, Kanan was found driving with a blood alcohol level of over .08%.

L.A. City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said Kanan has been sentenced to 96 hours in county jail and ordered to serve five years of probation. In addition, he must pay a fine and participate in an 18-month alcohol education program.

In a more positive note, Kanan can next be seen in the film “Jack Rio,” due out in 2008. The film which stars
Matthew Borlenghi (“All My Children,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Brian Krause (“Another World,” “Charmed”), James Patrick Stuart (“All My Children”), Monti Sharp (“General Hospital,” “Guiding Light”), Nadia Bjorlin (“Days of our Lives”) and Tristan Rogers (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “General Hospital”), follows the dark journey of a TV star trying to live a life outside of his onscreen persona as a serial killer is on the loose in L.A.

The film is a production of Black Hat Productions and GruntWorks Entertainment. A release date of June 13, 2008 has been set. Borlenghi, who plays the title character serves as writer/producer with Kanan receiving producer credit.
